Water withdrawal by source
There was a 7% decrease in surface water withdrawal compared to FY22. Surface water withdrawal at Bayswater and Liddell power stations decreased 12%. Surface water withdrawal at AGL Loy Yang decreased 4%.
Groundwater withdrawal decreased 18%, mostly driven by an 18% decrease at AGL Loy Yang.
Municipal water withdrawal increased 15%, mostly driven by a 20% increase at AGL Loy Yang.

Data reported above excludes produced water from Camden Gas Project (refer to 'Produced water - volume').
Data reported above excludes water that is passed through AGL's hydro generation facilities (refer to 'Managed water').
Data reported above excludes water used for cooling at AGL Torrens (refer to 'Managed water').
Data reported above excludes water used for cooling at Liddell Power Station (refer to 'Managed water').
Rainwater withdrawal, previously reported by AGL Macquarie and the George Street office, was not used at either facility in FY23.
Wastewater withdrawal, previously reported by Somerton Power Station, has been reclassified as a discharge. The water is disposed of in a metered trade-waste sewer after it is used in the demineralisation plant.
