Carbon intensity of coal seam gas projects
The intensity of coal seam gas production increased in FY23 due to the revised calculation methodology for fugitive emissions from natural gas production facilities as per the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.

These figures include the Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions intensity of coal seam gas sold from AGL operated facilities.
Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated in accordance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.
Greenhouse gas emissions include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulphur hexafluoride (as applicable).
In FY23, AGL implemented changes to our fugitive emissions calculations for natural gas production and storage facilities to align with updated regulations under the NGER Act.
FY23 data was updated in November 2023. Data was not available at the time of the initial release of the FY23 Data Centre on 10 August 2023.
